# Pickleball Asia

> Pickleball Asia (pickleball.asia) is the connective community for pickleball across Asia. It links players, coaches, venues, equipment brands, tournaments, protection and travel partners into one bridged community — a bridge, not a standard. It does not certify products or impose a rulebook; it connects the people building the sport in every Asian market.

## Summary

- **What it is:** A community initiative connecting the pickleball ecosystem across Asia.
- **Founder:** Doug Choy (registered pickleball.asia and wrote the founding letter).
- **Core idea:** "A bridge owned by one person is just a pier." Pickleball Asia is owned by many and crossed from both sides.
- **Not a standard:** It will not tell clubs how to run ladders, dictate paddle specs, rank markets, or import an outside rulebook.
- **The mark:** A sign that you are part of the conversation — earned by participation, not by passing a test. To be finalised by community open design call and vote.
- **Founding partner fee:** US$100 (one-time). Not a licence; funds the site and a small team. No one pays more to get in or to move up.

- **Markets served:** Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, India — and the wider region.
- **Languages:** English today; Tiếng Việt, Bahasa Melayu, Chinese (中文) and Tagalog coming soon.
